How To Avoid Calling An Emergency Plumber In Sydney

This might sound strange, but we don’t want you to be in a dramatic situation that calls for Sydney emergency plumbing

Instead, our
Rose Bay Plumbing team would much rather come to your home or office and undertake preventative work so that you never experience plumbing emergencies. Indeed, we even recommend you do your own checks and balances to perhaps avoid any kind of plumbing problem. With seasons changing, now is a great time to do your own easy plumbing DIY odd-jobs. These simple steps could save you from having to call us in the first place! However, should you need Eastern suburbs plumbers, we’re here and ready to help. So, let’s get going!

Clearing blocked drains

As spring and summer eventually come to the Eastern suburbs (we’ve been waiting long enough!), your household is probably about to get very busy. No doubt you’ll be dialling up the BBQs and outdoor entertainmen, and having more people over.

With all this extra activity suddenly happening, it’s easy for the drains to block. Why? Because there are invariably more food scraps going down the sink, not to mention BBQ grease as well. The toilet is also getting a workout as more guests come over.
Blocked drains and sewers are a common occurrence this time of year. So, be conscious of what is going down the pipes - use blockers that catch food scraps, and don’t put anything down the toilet other than paper. When it comes to showers, inspect the drainage and remove any build-up of hair or soapy product residue. You can easily access a lot of the drains yourself, so conduct a once-over where this is possible. Aim to do so on a fairly frequent basis.

If problems escalate or it just looks like too big a task, we offer blocked drain plumbing, so just give us a call! Emergency drain unblocking is not all that common - typically, most problems can be dealt with by our standard daily service. However, it is usually unsightly and dramatic when it does occur. But don’t worry! We’re fully qualified, and we’ve definitely seen it all before - there’s no plumbing problem that’s too much for us to handle!

Clean your white goods

Your white goods work hard to clean for you. As it turns out, they need to be cleaned themselves every now and again! Keep an eye on your washing machine and dishwasher. Watch for any build-up of flint, food scraps etc that might clog drains. Put them on a wash cycle without any clothes or dishes (you should be able to purchase purpose-made products for this from a supermarket) and just show them a bit of occasional TLC.

Water heater repair and maintenance

It sounds strange talking about hot water heater repair as the weather improves, doesn’t it? However, as your hot water system slows down, now’s your chance to give it the once over and ensure everything works well. If you detect any potential problems, you can have them fixed before things get cold again and you really need the heater working.

However, this is one area we recommend you don’t DIY, especially if it involves gas hot water repair.

Our fully qualified
Master Plumbers can handle all hot water system repairs across Sydney. Whether you need a peace of mind plumbing check, general hot water plumbing, hot water tank replacement, etc. - we can take care of anything!

Check for plumbing leaks

The thing about leaks is they tend to be fairly discrete until they are not! Pipes contract and expand as the temperature around them changes. So, with the new season edging in, it is understandable that many leaks start to spring up. During the day, when you’ve plenty of light coming into the home, just walk around and inspect all your sinks, toilets and showers.

Look for small amounts of pooling water or listen out for noises when you turn taps on or off. Watch the water pressure, too, as that can be a telltale sale. It tends to be straightforward to
fix leaking taps; however, leaky shower repair can often be laborious and complicated. Whatever problem you detect, if it looks like too big a job for DIY, just give us a call - we take care of all leaking tap repairs!

Root risk analysis

Keeping your trees trimmed to prevent root proliferation is a smart move. However, that’s probably all you can do to try and stop tree roots from piercing into drains or sewer pipes and causing a right mess. The truth of the matter is, if those trees are intent on growing into your pipes, they will! Root damage is therefore a big problem here in Sydney, and when those roots take hold of pipes, they can create pipe and drain carnage, resulting in extensive and expensive repair work.

As such, we strongly recommend a
root risk analysis. This is a very straightforward process that does not take long at all. One of our team comes and, using purpose-built technology, we scan all your drains and pipes. Anything we find, we present to you in a report. Nipping a tree root in the bud (pardon the pun!) is less expensive than having to conduct an entire pipe relining.
